Minister Susil Premajayantha has emphasized that the Opposition which cannot assume power with the trust of the people are conspiring to take over the reigns of the country with the help of Geneva.
The Minister made this accusation at the United People’s Freedom Alliance news briefing held in Colombo today.
The Minister said that the Prevention of Terrorism Act is a major issue for Navaneethen Pillay. This had been reported in the media. He queried as to who brought forward this Act. It was pioneered by the UNP Government with the intention of suppressing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. It was amended and substituted for LTTE terrorism in 1988. Such Acts are prevalent in other countries. As such if anyone is calling for its revocation, the Minister said it is an interference in the sovereignty of this country. All Western countries are preferring accusations against Russia in the Ukraine issue. Sri Lanka was battered by terrorism for 30 years.
The Minister pointed out that all countries which encouraged terrorism are now taking a stand against Sri Lanka in Geneva. In such an environment, the Opposition in this country which cannot take over the power of this country with the support of the people was attempting to attack the President through the West.
Minister Premajayantha added that the opposition which cannot assume power through the mandate of the people was supporting actions initiated by the West against the President and the Government.
