The distribution of postal ballot papers of the Western and Southern Provincial polls begins. The distribution of official poll cards is scheduled to begin tomorrow.
Additional Elections Commissioner R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that the Returning Officers concerned of the Districts in respect of the Western and Southern Provincial polls are due to hand over tomorrow the official poll cards to the Postal Department for distribution. These will be distributed among households by the Postal Department within next week.
The distribution of the official poll cards will take place until the 21st of this month. Sunday the 16th has been declared as a special day for the distribution of the official poll cards. Mr. Ratnayake said that if any voters does not receive the poll cards by the 21st of this month, it could be secured from the Post Office concerned.
Packs containing the postal ballot papers were handed over to the Post Offices last week. The certifying officers will receive these postal ballot packs within next week.
The Additional Elections Commissioner said that the casting of postal votes will take place on the 13th and 14th of this month.
