The Education Ministry has decided to close the Bandaranayake College in Gampaha until a full inquiry is being held in respect of the crisis which has surfaced.
Expressing views at a news conference held at the Education Ministry, Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that some outsiders had forcibly entered the School and acquired the public address system and launched a protest forcing the school children also to join in it. It was a threat to the security of the children as well as the Principal and the staff. He said that the Education Ministry has taken a decision to close the school indefinitely until a full inquiry is held.
As a solution, the Minister said they were proposing the establishment of a Committee for every school mainly for the security of the school and the children.
