103 countries have already confirmed their participation in the 2014 World Conference on Youth to be hosted by Sri Lanka.
The Youth Conference will open on the 06th of next month. Participants will include Ministers and Senior State Officials of 40 countries such as Russia, China, Cuba, Spain, South Africa and Singapore. About 350 youth group representing various international civil societies are slated to join in the conference.
President of the UN General Assembly Dr. John William Ashe, UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy on Youth, Ahmad Alhendawi and several other heads of UN Agencies, have also confirmed their participation in the World Conference on Youth.
In the meantime the inauguration of the Conference will take place at the Ruhuna Magampura International Conference Centre in Hambantota on the 6th of next month. Thereafter the Conference will proceed at the BMICH in Colombo until the 09th. A total of around 1500 delegates are expected to participate and this include a large group between the ages of 18 and 29 years.
