The No Confidence motion presented by the United National Party against the Chairman of the North Central Provincial Council has been defeated. The United National Party tabled a No Confidence motion against the North Central Provincial Council Chairman T.M.R. Siripala. It was defeated by a majority of seven votes. The vote on the motion was taken up when the Provincial Council met today. 18 members voted against the motion while only 11 members voted in favour of the No Confidence motion. The proceedings were presided by Vice Chairman Jayantha Marapone. He did not cast his vote, while the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Councillor Wasantha Samarasinghe was not present to cast his vote.
