Action is being taken to implement 17 projects approved under the Strategic Development Act.
The Strategic Development Project Act was introduced in the year 2008 to embolden societal and economical profitable investments.
17 Projects have already been identified under this Act for implementation. Among them is the Colombo Harbour Terminal Yard Development Project, the Sampur Coal Power Plant and the modernization of the Sri Lanka Steel Corporation. The nod of the Parliament has already been received for these Projects. Investments totaling more than one billion US Dollars have already been received for the approved strategic development projects.
Investment opportunities will expand to a great extent in the future as a result of these projects.
