The Canadian Government should take appropriate measures to prevent terrorist activities in Canada.
Military Spokesman Brig. Ruwan Wanigasuriya made this reference responding to a query raised by a journalist at a news conference in Colombo today on a statement made by a high official of the Canadian Government that the LTTE is not a proscribed outfit.
The Military Spokesman said that there had been a report that Canada is not going to adhere to this proscription. However, the LTTE is already a banned outfit in Canada. He said they believe that the Canadian Government will take appropriate action with regard to LTTE activities as this outfit is already a proscribed outfit.
Terrorism is impacting various countries in different forms. All countries may be directing attention to this terrorist organization. All countries had accepted the 1373 UN Security Council Resolution. The Military Spokesman said that if they are refusing to adhere to this proscription, they are going against the UN Security Council Resolution.
