The European Union has agreed to provide 100 billion rupees on behalf of future development projects in Sri Lanka. It has also lauded the progress achieved by the island nation.
The European Union has pledged to provide this amount on behalf of the development programmes mooted in the country. European Union Ambassador to Sri Lanka David Daly said that the European Union has decided to support the programmes mooted in Sri Lanka giving priority to development in the country as enunciated in the Mahinda Chinthana Future Vision. He made this revelation at a ceremony held in Colombo yesterday marking European Union Day.
The EU Ambassador further said that a consensus is to be agreed upon with the Sri Lankan Government with respect to future assistance programs of the European Union. It is planned to use this aid for many projects including the construction of 20 thousand houses, 20 schools and reconstructions.
