Plans are afoot to extend many facilities to devotees who will be arriving in Mihintale and Anuradhapura for Poson.
It is estimated that more than 1.6 million devotees would be arriving at the Atamasthana and Mihintale in view of Poson. The National Poson Festival will be held with state patronage. The Poson Week has been declared from the 09th to the 15th of June. The Anuradhapura Poson Committee said that action was being taken to grant all facilities required by the devotees.
A special discussion in this respect was held at the Anuradhapura District Secretariat. It was held under the patronage of District Secretary Mahinda Seneviratne.
Expressing views on the manner in which the programme will be launched, the District Secretary said that arrangements are now being made to meet all the needs of the devotees who will be arriving in Anuradhapura for Poson.
These arrangements are being finalized under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent of the Atamasthana in collaboration with the political leadership and the administrative officers. He said they expected around 1.6 million devotees. Discussions have already been concluded with respect to the provision of food, transport, health and sanitary facilities.
