A Former North-Western Provincial Councillor who forced a female school teacher to kneel before him has received a suspended prison sentence.
The Puttalam High Court sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment suspended for seven years former Provincial Councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara, who was found guilty of forcing the female school teacher Susila Herath of the Navodya Vidyalaya in Nawagattegama to kneel before him.
Delivering the verdict when the case was taken up today, High Court Judge Priyantha Fernanado also ordered the defendant to pay a fine of 50 thousand rupees and also 300 thousand rupees in compensation to the female teacher in question.
