The Colombo High Court has granted the Attorney General permission to nominate 115 new witnesses in the millionaire businessman Mohamed Shyam murder lawsuit. Six defendants including Ravindu Gunawardena, the son of former DIG Vass Gunawardena have been named as witnesses and they are now in remand prison. Making submissions when the case was taken up today, the State Counsel said that 160 witnesses have already been nominated. He made a request for the nomination of another 115 witnesses. Acceding to this request, the three judge panel ordered for the inclusion of the names of these new witnesses in the lawsuit. Accordingly the total number of witnesses has increased to 277.
