Switzerland has said that freedom and happiness in the North were consolidated due to the dawn of peace. The Swiss Ambassador to Sri Lanka emphasized that this honour should go to the Sri Lankan Government.
Ambassador of Switzerland Thomas Litscher made this reference when he met Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri after a tour of the North. Their meeting took place at the Governor’s Office in Jaffna. Massive development can be witnessed in the North since the end of the conflict. Some are making various statements on the situation prevailing in the North. But the Swiss diplomat said he could be satisfied with the environment prevailing in the North. Civilian life has fully returned to normalcy. As such the Government pointed out to the Swiss Ambassador that the extent of development achieved within a short span since ending the war cannot be neglected. The Swiss diplomat assured assistance from his Government for more development projects in the North.
