The President has directed to pay compensation for 2396 employees of Thulhiriya and Pugoda Textile factories, who were sacked during the UNP rule. The management of Thulhiriya and Pugoda textile factories sacked the employees who staged a strike against the privatization of the UNP Government in 1978. The President directed the officials to pay compensation for the employees who have made a request and drawn the attention of the President about their difficulties for over 35 years without any relief. It is expected that sixty million rupees would be paid to them as compensation. They have expressed their gratitude to the President.
