Lord Naseby delivering a speech at the British House of Lords has questioned why London was working against the democratically elected Sri Lankan Government. Delivering a speech on Wednesday, he said that Britain has created conflicts in several countries. He has said that the U.K. involvement in Libya and Egypt have destroyed the two countries. The British actions have created millions of refugees and destroyed thousands of lives. The U.K. intervention in Syria was not democratic. Lord Naseby said that the U.K. affairs in Sri Lanka could not be approved. He said that the British Government supported the diaspora which is usually led by former LTTE members. He has questioned why the British Government does not understand that the LTTE was an organization which killed democratic Tamil leaders, two state leaders and thousands of innocent civilians. Sri Lanka’s attempt to resolve the problem through discussions for 28 years were not successful. Lord Naseby said the he was aware that the Government took maximum measures to minimize loss to life. Reconciliation is taking place in Sri Lanka. It has introduced tri-lingualism. Thousands of Tamil civilians who were living over the world are returning to Sri Lanka. Although certain people charged that Sri Lanka has no media freedom, Sri Lanka’s media freedom is better than the media freedom in Singapore. Lord Naseby is the Chairman of the All Party Committee on Sri Lanka in the British Parliament.
