The Gurunagar Housing Complex in Jaffna which was devastated as a result of terrorist attacks has been reconstructed and vested in the Northerners.
This Housing Complex which was reconstructed after 29 years was vested in the civilians today. The expenditure incurred on the reconstruction under the Janasevana 10,000 Housing Scheme based on the Mahinda Chinthana Forward Vision was 110 million rupees. This five-storeyed Housing Complex has 160 units. The Sri Lanka State Engineering Corporation handled the reconstruction work.
The opening of the Housing Complex took place under the patronage of Minister Wimal Weerawansa. Present on the occasion were Minister Douglas Devananda, Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri and Jaffna Mayor Yogeshwari Patgunarasa.
