Accident when speeding on Expressway .... with unknown female at back Motorbike accident on Expressway (mobile video)

A person who speeded on the Katunayaka Expressway against the law on a motorbike met with his fate last Friday. This person who had told his wife that he would be back in 2 hours' time was travelling with an unknown female on the pillion of his bike and had entered the Expressway all the while aware that it was prohibited.

Though the authorities showed their protest the moment he was gaining access to the route he had turned a deaf ear and had speeded his bike. While reaching Kerawalapitiya he was once again signalled to stop and since he paid no attention even then, a team pursued him

to get at him. In the process the said motorbike was not able to control its speed and ultimately somewhere near the 8th milepost in Wattala had collided with the rear part of a car. Because of this accident which occured unexpectedly, he had breathed his last while the female who was in his company was warded in hospital with serious injuries.

The deceased was a 38 year old father of 3 children named Mahadewa Prasanna resident at Castle Street, Borella. What his wife told the police after the incident was that her husband was running a retail shop and on the night of the incident had come home after work in the shop around 10 o'clock and had left saying that he was going out on a small matter and that he will be back in 2 hours' time and that she had come to know about an accident only after that. She had also said that she is not aware as for what purpose he had travelled along Katunayaka Expressway and as to who the female was on the pillion of his bike at the moment of the accident.

The driver of the car which met with the accident said that he was travelling to Katunayaka Airport and that when he was driving at a speed of around 60 - 70 kmph he had heard a sound of a thud all of a sudden and that simultaneously he had felt as if sand was falling and that later some female had floated over the vehicle and fallen on the front side. To inquire as to what was happening he had instantly stopped the car and had seen a person fallen on a motorbike lying behind his vehicle.

A person in a vehicle travelling behind had been able to video the incident from a mobile phone. The video, from BELOW

MP Aswer receives obscene calls

Obscene calls from students .... to Aswer's telephone

Since parliamentarian A.H.M. Aswer had been receiving continuous calls on his mobile phone in obscene language, he had complained about this to the police.

These calls had come from various phone numbers on various occasions reprimanding him saying such things as, "If you open your mouth .... the whole area stinks ....

shut your mouth and wait .... don't try to give your support by force .... now it's enough that you went 'kade". Mr. Aswer said that he suspects that this is something done by a few individuals in an organised manner.

Subsequently the police were able to get at the information about the individuals and areas across telephone companies and it was revealed to them that all the said persons were a set of youth from Beruwala, Aluthgama and Panadura areas from where a conflicting situation arose and that a gang of 5 were among them and that all of them were Muslim nationals.

Among this youth some of them had been recent school-leavers while some others were still school-going children, it was further understood. After a lengthy interrogation it was said that they thought of doing something like this because the parliamentarian was not interested in speaking on their behalf and his manner of criticism-oriented behaviour.

The police released them after warning them.

Harin -- Dayasiri brawl ... at the centre of Derana Wadapitiya!

An exchange of words of a heated nature during the political programme of TV Derana Wadapitiya last night between UNP parliamentarian Harin Fernando and North-West Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera took place and before the scheduled closure of the programme and when there was a short break the two of them had gone to the middle and engaged in fisticuffs. Later, those who were present there had mediated in the issue and separated the two of them .... sending them away which then brought the programme to a close.

Those watching the programme in their homes without knowing anything about this were able to see and hear only the National Anthem after the broadcast of the advertisements.

Early this morning a rumour spread around that a display of fisticuffs had taken place during the programme concerned. Another rumour was that the programme was curtailed on an order issued from higher ups.

A clarification was made across the Derana Website this evening around 6 o'clock. It is as follows: "UNP parliamentarian m.p. Mr. Harin Fernando andNorth-West Chief Minister Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekera had got involved in a turmoil during the course of the Wadapitiya programme. The programme organisers had to stop the programme half-way during the transmission because of a heated argument which culminated in going further during a short break in yesterday's (08) programme. Steps were taken for Mr. Dayasiri Jayasekera and Mr. Harin Fernando who were participants in this clash to be separated and escorted with protection".

In order to confirm this, Derana had released a undiscernible video of the fisticuffs scene.

If you can .... bring a mustard seed from an unemployed Sri Lankan undergraduate's house

Minister Nimal Siripala recently said that Kisagothami was asked by the Buddha to get some mustard seeds from a house where there had been no funeral and since this government has given

employment to every graduate, he further challenged to search for a mustard seed from a house where there is an unemployed graduate.

This is how the Minister spoke about it: "During Buddha's time Lord Buddha told Kisagothami to fetch some mustard seeds from a house where there had been no funeral. What we have to say today is to bring some mustard seeds from a house where an unemployed graduate is. In the same way, we have given a place to education not only in this Seat .... but within everywhere in Sri Lanka. Politics is not for 'henchaiaas".
