It is reported that the brother in law of the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabakaran, M.K.Sivagilingam
is contesting from the Kurunagala district opposing the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.Mahinda Rajapaksa had confessed that it was under his government after defeating the LTTE terrorists in the year 2009 allowed the LTTE members also to participate in general elections as well as the provincial council elections. He also had exaggerated by saying that democracy was established by him during his era.
