Coca Cola permit restored after the oil issue
On the 17th and the 28th instant the water supply to the Colombo and some suburban areas had to
be stopped as a pipe connecting to the Coca Cola factory from the Kelani river through which diesel was transported had ruptured. As a result the environmental protection permit that was given by the environmental authority to them had n=been cancelled.It is now learnt that as the defect had been rectified properly the environmental protection permit issued by the central environmental authority has been given back to the coca cola factory authorities fro them to resume operational work in the factory uninterrupted.
As a result of this defect the work in the coca cola factory had been forced to stop for two weeks until the defect in the pipe was rectified. The central environmental authority had issued this permit today the 31st temporarily.
This had been decided by the Chairman of the central environmental authority Professor Lal Mervyn Dharmasiri. However for the damages caused the Coco Cola company had been ordered to pay a fine.
