Veteran Vocalist and comedian Christie Leonard expires at 83
The veteran singer and comedian Christie Leonard Perera had been ailing for sometime and living at his residence in Maligawatta. He had
breathed his last while at home yesterday the 23rd instant.He was 83 years old at the time of his demise.

He had come to fame in the 1950 decade by busting into limelight with songs which became hits such as titled " Amma Kiya Kiyatha Hekie Ekama Landakatai", "Kullen Pola Pola", "Sakala Sirin piri Sri Lankawe" which he sang at the then Radio Ceylon which became instant hits. He had become the owner of manysongs that were popular in Sri Lanka.
In the year 1954 he acted in his initial Sinhala film "Warada Kadeda".Then he had contributed his acting to a number of subsequent films such as "Sundara Birnda", "Weera Wijaya", " Deevarayo"", Chandiya", "Soora Chauraya".
