fall into a drain in Punchi Borella
Popular actors Sanath Gunatillaka and Clitus Mendis have faced a mishap in the motor car they were travelling in, in Punchi Borella day-before-yesterday
because that area had submerged with water.At a moment when there was heavy rain towards evening last 6th, they were on their way to Negombo for a film-matter when the motor car in which they were travelling in had fallen into a drain filled with water in Punchi Borella and half of the vehicle had been submerged in water. On that occasion other than the two of them, there had been four others who were travelling in the vehicle. Since it was a time of heavy shower, there was nobody who had promptly come to their rescue. However, after a short while some individuals who happened to be passing by had observed this scene and had volunteered to give them a helping hand. The six passengers inside the car were almost drowning in the water unable to open the door of the vehicle and those who came to their aid managed to draw the vehicle out to a side and open the doors and thus rescue them.
It was only after that the rescue group came to know that it was Sanath Gunatillaka and Clitus Mendis and four others whom they were familiar with having seen them in films as the victims who had faced this tragedy. Later the victims had left the submerged vehicle lying there and had gone back home in three-wheelers. When the mishap took place it was Clitus Mendis who had been at the steering-wheel.
Clitus who explained about the accident said that since there was a traffic congestion because of the heavy downpour, they had faced this accident when they had reverted to a side to give room to another vehicle which was trying to overtake them, to pass by. Though nobody who were travelling in the vehicle sustained injury, the car had been seriously damaged, it was reported.
