We'll come to the roads next time to chase the dictators Ranil, Maithri!

We'll come to the roads next time to chase the dictators Ranil, Maithri!

The full speech made by the ex-President at the rally held at Lipton Roundabout at the end of the Paada Yathra, from below

"It is the most gigantic Paada Yathra in the entire history in this country that has gathered together at Colombo Lipton Roundabout. Those days we started from here and headed towards the Kataragama
holy land. Those days also there was suppression. During that time it was Mr. Premadasa who was there. But Mr. Premadasa did not approach courts and plead to enforce control. That's the difference. How many days? One year and eight months. Lakhs of members of the public had got on to the roads. When he heard that we were coming to Colombo ... the whole body had started shivering. Shivering and admonishing me. When saying we are going ... they're reprimanding on that side. Everybody is being taken to the FCID. Those who had aided them was the Bribery Commissioner and the CID. Scared to put in jail? Stopping the battle? These people may have thought of insulting and assaulting the masses, by grabbing the democratic rights and the rights to appoint the representative of one's own village and to get ready to dominate the masses like dictators.

Remember ... what happened to dictators in this world will happen to this couple too. We should say with responsibility ... there are those who have joined hands to buttress this dictatorship. There are five or six who have been given top-notch appointments ... to always shout at.

That one is putting the ball ... this one is batting. After this one bats and finishes ... Ranil comes to bat. This is the agreement. Red baby elephant ... find the right track. I am telling his supporters to compel the leader for him to find the right road. This is the situation of the country today. Who was battered by the VAT? The government pays a tax of 15 percent for our colds and coughs ... agreements which have not been signed. Jobs to be given to boys and girls who passed 8th standard are going to be  imported from abroad.  Could this be allowed? Subsidies were done away with. Was paddy bought for 50? Who's benefited? For what paddy mill owners? Only we ... I am not going to say more than this ... the farmer is stranded today. Now look at the soldiers. Mahinda's regime has made them dig drains. If one knows the work which soldiers are asked to do! Soldiers have been dragged to the roads, to the garbage bin, to the jail. The soldiers are to the War Tribunal. Is this to be allowed? It's against this that we have come. Our monks are being taken and put in jail.

Today some officers talk like Choppe Ayya of Maradana. Even Choppe Ayya talks better than that. When reaching heights ... one's talk also must change. The law must be justified. The Police ... I am sorry. You big shots ... next time we'll not come back ... to take you'll and go. This is only a rehearsal. After many years ... what's this called Paada Yathra ... what'as this called the Opposition ... must show those who stayed in the ruling Party for 20 years how to stay in the Opposition ... how the battle commences. We're ready ... if you'll are ready. What you'll ask ... we'll give that to you".
