Heated situation between Champika and Vidura at Horana bus-station opening
A heated situation has arisen at the opening of a bus-station in Moragahahena area, Horana today. Work on this project had commenced during the last regime under the initiation of the then MP Vidura Wickramanayaka; but it had been brought to a finish only recently. Minister Mr. Patali Champika Ranawaka had been invited and preparations were arranged for the opening of the Moragahahena Bus station and about half hour
before the Minister arrived, the former MP who arrived on the scene had declared open the bus station.Later, Mr. Vidura Wickramanayaka who addressed the gathering said: "Moragahahena is my home-town ... each and every person can't come and put 'chandi part'. It's we who are doing the work here. It's we who worked those days and it's we do the work now too". Whatever it is, when later he had tried to drive a bus and proceed, Patali-supporters who had gathered there had not allowed him to proceed. At that point a commotion had taken place. Whatever it is, after MP Vidura had left the place, Minister Patali Champika had arrived to open the bus-station.
Addressing the ceremonial gathering, this is what he said: "We don't care five cents for rif raff protests. If they think like that, it's a big mistake. We didn't come here for nothing. We came after trouncing State terrorism. We have no time to throw detritus to barking dogs".
