King Bhumibal of Thailand the monarch who reigned for longest period expires
The Monarch of Thailand King Bhumibal who reigned for a period of 70 years has expired today.
King Bhumibal had become Emperor of Thailand when he was just 18 years and died at the age of 88 years. Most Thais have only
known King Bhumibol on the throne and his influence has superseded that of bickering politicians since the closing days of the second world war.During times of political alarm and agitations he had intervened in the proper way and had administered the country without been directly involved in its activities.Nevertheless the Thailand people had an unprecedented respect and admiration for him.
After the rule of Prince Bhumibal's uncle King Prajadipock in the year 1935the brother of King Bhumibal 9 tear old Prince Ananda was to be the heir to the throne. But owing to a shooting incident in the year 1946 King Ananda had died and as a result of it Prince Bhumibal at the age of 18 years automatically became the Monarch as King Bhumibal.
