MP's house where 'Thol pethi atharin' was shot ... tracked because of cycle number!

A group of people who were involved in making a DVD film under the title 'Thol pethi atharin' some time back were taken into police custody. Police were able to identify the creators behind this video because of a clue of a bicycle number, it has now been revealed.

The beginning of the breakthrough was that a Veyangoda youth who was among the audience of
thousands of individuals who happened to view this film across the internet, which video in fact meant for Adults Only had caught his special attention. Everything was revealed because of a motor bicycle which he had spotted at a certain location in the film. He had in fact been quite acquainted with the number of this motor cycle. For this very reason he had started searching about this. It was not necessary to devote much of a time in that connection. The identity of the owner of the motor cycle flashed across his mind.

It was a motor cycle frequently utilised by a certain former provincial council member living in Kurikotuwa, Veyangoda. A thought came to his mind to inform the police about this. Without divulging his identity he exposed what he thus found, to Veyangoda Police. It was through a telephone call. Officer-in-Charge of Veyangoda Police, Inspector of Police Chandana Kumara  took no pains in finding out as to who gave the phone call. He in turn rang up his superior, the police Head of Gampaha Division Senior Police Superintendent Muditha Pussella. The OIC spoke about the telephone call he had received. Following Muditha Pussella's instructions Chandana then initially got down to tracking the film concerned with his comrades, Sub Inspector of Police Sunil, Woman Police Constable Malkanith, Pradeepa and Police Constable Padmasiri. After browsing through the internet they were able to get at the said film without much effort as such.

The film had two actors playing their roles. There was one actress. There were several instances where this actress was displaying her nudity. On one occasion she was seen to drop her clothes while watching a Western 'blue film'. On another occasion, she is found stark naked in the bathroom. Scenes where she would dismiss her clothes and would hug and embrace the actors in the nude and even go to the extent of engaging in sexual activity with them were to be observed. Though this film had been going its rounds in the internet and the police had only got information about the video, the police had received no complaint from anybody. Therefore, going through the process of an investigation without a complaint created a problem. However though the circumstances were such they did not step back in making a search on this matter. It was only after that it came to light that the film had been shot at the MP's home. The MP was questioned about it and he comes forward to lodge a complaint to the police saying that the said house was secured from him for a period of two months under the understanding that a film is to be shot and it was a lewd film that had been shot at this house.

Police investigations commence based on that complaint. Though the MP had said that he gave the top floor of his house to shoot a film and that he was not aware that it was of the obscene type, the police of course was confronted with the point as to what extent his words could be trusted. However, without focusing any particular attention about it, on the information provided by the MP it is the producer of the film who is first of all nabbed in this respect. Subsequently the two actors and the actress were apprehended.
