Sri Lankan Airlines to suffer further loses with refurbishment,Mattala not an option
It is reported that owing to the proposed refurbishment plans of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport a pruning of a huge 620 flights are to be done.
It was earlier added that only a 200 number of flights are to be curtailed which was only 07 flights for
a day.The Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lankan Airlines Suren Ratwatta had added that in order to earn revenue for a day flights for a period of 11 to 14 hours are needed.Hence profits cannot be arrived at by having flights for 06 hours a day. As a result further losses are to be incurred during the period of refurbishment of the BIA.
This situation has arrived as although the Sri Lanka Airline authorities had wanted to have the activities in the refurbishment to occur in the nights the Companies who are to undertake the work are not in favour of it.
The travelers do not wish to spend time after they land at the Mattala International Airport.Hence that proposal had to be thrown away was what the Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lankan Airlines had quipped.
