Yoshitha's fiancee who drove a defender high speed in the company of friends ... nabbed by police

Yoshitha's fiancee who drove a defender high speed in the company of friends ... nabbed by police

An incident is reported of Parliament Member Lohan Ratwatte's 20 year old daughter who drove a Defender in the company of a group of her friends along Colombo -- Kandy Highway by violating road rules last Sunday (11) and was cornered by Nittambuwa Police after a great effort.

She had speeding and even crossing the dual lines overtaking a vehicle even disregarding police
orders and therefore two police officers were compelled to give pursuit to the vehicle after which the motor cycle was parked across the road close to Pasyala Junction in Nittambuwa thus cornering them. The two officers of Nittambuwa Police Traffic Division had questioned her and it was then that they were told that she is the daughter of a popular politician and had revealed her father's name too to the police officers.

Whatever it is, she begged pardon for having driven in an unsafe manner when the two police officers had then warned her thoroughly and after issuing a traffic fine had subsequently confiscated the driving licence. Having obtained a temporary licence valid for 14 days she was told to appear before Attanagalla Magistrate Court. On checking further, several other young girls suspected to be her friends were found within the Defender, police had reported. Yohana Ratwatte who is following further education in Australia has arrived here for her year-ending holidays these days and she happens to be Yoshitha's (a son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa) present fiancee.

It is confirmed by yet another issue that she is undergoing road safety problems these days. Prior to this she, her sister and mother were faced with an accident last month at the Southern Expressway entrance in their own motor car and on that occasion the mother had been at the driving wheel. All three of them had to admit themselves in that instance to Karapitiya Hospital for treatment for minor injuries they had sustained.
