Because of Ranjan's "hena gahana" talk ... administrative officers go on strike

An instance of Deputy Minister and film actor arriving in Akaragama area, belonging to his seat Divulapitiya reprimanding the Divisionial Secretary over a matter of injustice, created some sensation.

Though a permit for soil mining has been granted for a depth of only a meter within the
extent of one acre in the said area, already a depth of over 30 feet has been dug and having heard about it Ranjan got the Divisional Secretary on line to inquire about giving permission to politicians and others for such activities and spoke to this lady Provincial Secretary with speakers activated on his mobile phone for those around to listen. On the first instance she had disconnected the line and because of the temper caused by such an action, Ranjan addressed her in a harsh manner.

This is Ranjan Ramanayaka speaking ...

Tell me Emathithuma.

Why did you disconnect the line?

No .. no it got cut.

Line got cut?  You disconnected the line!

Emathithuma ... if there's a problem .. write to us.

Problems won't be written and sent. Now if you are hit on the snout by coming there, will you wait until it is written and sent?

We are of course civil servants ... of course won't wait till such a blow is dealt

Yes .. yes, we know that you are a thug ... we know how you build houses!

Don't listen to what each and every person is saying and shout at me for lies. If there's a complaint against me ... make a formal inquiry

Now having destroyed this for as long as 7 years ... robbing ... you'll should be struck by thunder ... you'll ...

Doesn't matter Emathithuma.

Such was the exchange of words. Subsequently, when Ranjan Ramanayaka had made an inquiry in this connection from the Department of Mines and Geology, he was informed that this racket has gone under the carpet because of securing bribes and names and whereabouts of those involved had been revealed to the media. "Clearly it is MP Indika Anuruddha the culprit who is involved in soil-mining in this area and also his brother Thusitha and also Wasantha Dangalla of our Party ... and the bitter truth is that all of them have been given bribes irrespective of whether they are from the Party or the Opposition".

After this incident it has been requested by the Gampaha District Administration Service Association from the Deputy Minister to withdraw the malicious statement uttered by him; if not so that everyone would step away from their duties on the 30th. It was further implied that this utterence was an instance of contempt aimed at government authorities. The video in this connection, from below
