Attempts of those who failed O/L ... rise to 5 and 2 dead!

Attempts of those who failed O/L ... rise to 5 and 2 dead!

Attempts of those who failed O/L ... rise to 5 and 2 dead!

While those who reached top positions at the O/L Examination were highly acclaimed by the media, news is reported of those who attempted suicide for having been unsuccessful at this examination as well as 2 students who were successful in taking their life.

Higher ups of certain Colombo schools have even gone to the extent of conveying through telephone calls about how students of their school have secured 9 A's ... 8 A's etcetera simply because of the competition that prevails among
schools in this connection. However, what most people fail to realise is that the uncalled for welcome about success at O/Ls has nevertheless created a negative impact on those who were unfortunate enough to reach that criterion which ultimately has brought mental pressure on them.

The final outcome of this mental pressure is recorded across incidents where a schoolboy by the name of Chamod Lalantha Udayawarna living in Anuradhapura was found lying dead having committed suicide by the side of the railway track close to Ja Ela Railway Junction and schoolgirl Chalani Lakshani of Kahatuduwa, Kiriwaththuduwa committing suicide by hanging herself on an ambarella branch of a tree behind her house day-before-yesterday (28) night. Apart from that, 3 other schoolgirls of 2 leading schools in Gampola area had taken an overdose with the idea of ending their lives. They are presently under treatment at Gampola Hospital after being admitted there.

Chamod Lalantha Udayawarna had jumped in front of a moving train and thus killed himself because he had failed in the subject of Maths for the second time. He had informed one of his friends by telephone that he was afraid of facing the future , it was reported. The schoolgirl referred to above of course was not someone who failed in Maths but mentally disturbed because she had secured only a simple pass for that subject. She had been following studies in her 12th Year at a school in Homagama and had sat for the Maths paper at the O/L last year and had obtained a simple pass in that case. After which she had pursued her studies in the Arts stream at the A/L for sometime. Subsequently on a promise given by her to school authorities that she would secure a pass had then switched over to follow the subject of Commerce in preference to Arts, thus getting the opportunity to follow Commerce. She had however been mentally worried as she would not be able to follow studies in the subject of Commerce in the future at the A/L.

The 3 students of Gampola too were highly distressed for being not successful at the exam and consequently had lost interest in living anymore and had resorted to taking those drugs, they had mentioned later. The three of them had not known each other and had committed those acts separately, it was reported. Hospital sources say that they had fallen sick because one student has taken about 40 Panadol tablets while another student had taken an excess quantity of capsules used in the form of inhalers.

Narahenpita traffic cop shouts out saying "video fines" taboo ... and hits phone!

Narahenpita traffic cop shouts out saying "video fines" taboo ... and hits phone!

A video is circulating around the internet these days which indicates an incident where 2 traffic constables in Narahenpita area who were present there had been getting ready to impose a fine on a motor cyclist after stopping him, allegedly for violating traffic rules. At that moment the motorist brings out an counter-argument saying that he is free of guilt in that instance. In this particular case no
information can be clearly deduced as to whether the motorist was truly guilty or not.

Whatever it is, what strikes one as the significant feature of this video is the attempt made by him to record this scene on his mobile phone on the assumption that he is about to be penalised to pay an unfair fine as imposed by the police which had provoked him to video the incident at which moment the said policeman tried to physically knock off the phone with his hand and even attempts to assault this motorist thus with the motive of preventing him from videoing the scene.

On facilities available for anyone these days to secure a mobile phone video, a dialogue has thus emerged over this video clip speculating the justification of the manipulation of the video. The video which portrays the incident concerned, from below

Wife stabbed to death by husband because of phone 'password' suspicion

Wife stabbed to death by husband because of phone 'password' suspicion

There are many instances where suspicion put lives into confusion. Once the seed of suspicion happens to get planted in the depths of the mind, it casts an impact not only for one's life but for the lives of others too. Sometime recently the seed of such an occasion which created suspicion went out of bounds and as a result of a sudden burst of temper it brought death on its trail.

Renuka Malkanthi who put her wedding ring promising to enjoy conjugal happiness and sorrow
alike, finally became the victim of her husband's fit of anger and ultimately had to take leave of her life on the eve of last 23rd at a moment when her husband questioned her about a password being inserted in her mobile phone. Not being able to bear the response given by her Renuka Malkanthi the 39 year old mother of one child succumbed to death after being stabbed by her husband.

Renuka Malkanthi who lived in Agalawatta, Dapiligoda was involved in a vocation as a soothsayer or fortuneteller with the blessings of the gods and was living in pleasure with her 12 year old daughter. On the other hand her husband Achala Priyantha was maintaining a balanced family life sans any economic problems or any such related issues in that connection with the income earned from his profession. Achala Priyantha in fact was engaged in the bakery trade while his daughter was a schoolgoing lass. Even neighbours were struck by this sudden tragedy which took place within a family who lived a life of contentment.

The background as the source of this incident was that the wife was involved in making preparations for her husband who was getting ready to visit a funeral house of a neighbour and in the meantime he had taken his wife's mobile phone with the idea of getting a call to someone and on that occasion he found that a password has been used for the phone which then confused him. As such he then proceeded to question Renuka about it.

However, on the spur of the moment his temper exceeded its limits and it ended up with this murder. Subsequently he had repented over what he had done; but it was only then that he came to know that his beloved wife was no more among the living and having realised the tragedy, in order to console himself the only thing that was available to him was to put an end to his own life too and there was nothing but a bottle of insecticide at hand. However the attempt was averted with the mediation of relatives and neighbours and Achala is presently in hospital battling between life and death.

Menaka who leaves professor ... goes for dancer

Menaka who leaves professor ... goes for dancer

Teledrama actors and actresses who enjoy fantastic wedding ceremonies on a grand scale are noted to face changes after a short time and as a result on a number of occasions have had to encounter various inconveniences as have been reported these days.

Tele-actress Menaka Peiris exchanged wedding rings towards the end of 2016 with Amer, a young Sri
Lankan Assistant Professor living in Norway. When the wedding was drawing nigh, this is how the bridegroom was introduced him to her fans:

"S. Amer is in Norway and he is an Assistant Professor of a university there. At the same time he is a senior consultant for an oil company. It's exactly 9 months since both of us came to know each other. The wedding was finalised in one month after that. We came to know each other through a proposal. The proposal came on February 21st. We spoke to each other over skype for several days but the video was not switched on as such. It was only 4 days after that the video was switched on and we actually saw each other. We don't want to postpone the wedding. By March 21st even the hotels were booked.

It was my mother who introduced him to me. What I looked for was a good person who was a non-drinker and non-smoker. He really was a person of that type. When he first spoke to me he didn't know that I was an actress ... because he hasn't been in Sri Lanka for some time. But after getting to know that I was an actress, he told me to keep away from that field and come to reside in Norway. I liked that decision. I'll bid goodbye to acting later".

Menaka who spoke those words in November 2014 had her wedding ceremony in December on a grand scale. The photo gallery of all three occasions of the pre-wedding shoot, the wedding ceremony and the homecoming were published in our website too. It is true that she migrated after marriage. Whatever it is, when she returned to Sri Lanka alone before five or six months elapsed, what she told newspapers was that she came alone because her husband was involved with his work, but that she would be returning there once again. However, she had continuously accepted teledrama assignments and during recent times she even played roles of teledrama characters which incidentally were etched on the minds of viewers. She however refrained from exposing problems of her personal life. But the attachment between the couple had actually fallen apart unknown to anybody. They had even obtained their divorce.

By now Menaka is getting ready for a new marriage. The new partner is Ranil Kulasingha, a teledrama actor hailing from a generation of dancers. Ranil clicked with Menka mostly because both shared the common interest of dancing. The two of them who met each other in this field are making arrangements to engage in matrimony in the near future. Menaka is supposed to conduct dancing courses in future. As a pre-preparation for this, sometime recently Menaka who had accompanied Ranil to Rupavahini artiste programmes exposed this 'love affair' ... but has not made any comments whatsoever regarding the broken up attachments. Shown below is the marriage ceremony of 2014 and the collection of related photos

Yashan enters matrimony

Yashan de Silva, a singer of the new generation entered into matrimony day-before-yesterday and the bride who took his hand was Kenia.

This is what he said about his marriage: "We both met each other at Narahenpita Church. Kenia is an active member of the choir; so I used to see her on stage frequently. It was after that we associated each other as friends for a short period of time and later got involved in a romance as such. Our affair is now about 1 year. Just like all others we also faced obstacles. She's from Colombo while I am from Kandy. The background of our upbringing is different. A lot of people spoke many things from outside. People at home too questioned so much. Even the Narahenpita People's Church inquired about us. A series of marriage counselling classes was held by the Church. We attended those classes and developed ourselves spiritually"

'Battaramulle Bunty's confession of how he killed Samayan after he was cornered in Sella Kataragama

Battaramulle Bunty who is a main suspect connected to the murder of Ranale Samayan and 4 others by targeting an attack on the prison bus at Kalutara sometime back was cornered by police yesterday (22) in Sella Kataragama.

Bunty a stalwart member of Angoda Lokka's clique is presently confessing how he came to commit the
murder. He has also revealed that Angoda Lokka's initial plan was to open gunfire at the prison bus and to torture Ranale Samayan after capturing him and finally end his life. But as Samayan was in a serious condition as a result of attacks made together with Angoda Lokka after entering the bus; subsequent to assessing the situation, they had come to the conclusion that it was useless taking their victim away; thus Bunty accepting guilt for having killed Samayan in the end.

It is Bunty who takes the major hand in Angoda Lokka's heroin dealings. Having considered the report forwarded by Colombo Criminal Department to detain the suspect till 28th of this month, Kalutara Chief Magistrate Mrs. Bharathi Wijeyratna issued orders yesterday (22) that the suspect be detained and interrogated until the 28th of this month. Bunty has admitted to police that Angoda Lokka had dragged Samayan along the floor of the bus and had shot him on the head near the main door. He has also said that 9 underworld members had accompanied Angoda Lokka to carry out the attack and that 7 of them were members of Angoda Lokka's gang while the other 2 were hands of Makandure Madhusha's gang.

Angoda Lokka has come to launch the attack dressed in the uniform of a police inspector while the other underworld elements had been dressed in uniforms similar to that of prison officers. Angoda Lokka had come dressed in police uniform with the idea of halting the 2 prison buses on their way and for this attack six T - 56 weapons and 1 pistol had been used, he said. What they had earlier planned was to severe Samayan's neck and to place it at Athurugiriya Cemetery, Bunty revealed. As planned in this manner, cash, weapons and 4 members had been sent by Makandure Madusha and over a video call from Jayanthipura Rubberwatta had confirmed that everything was ready and subsequently had gone for the attack, Bunty has said.

It was also revealed that Angoda Lokka and Bunty had got into a Dolphin vehicle robbed from Maradana and with all the attendant assailants have arrived at the Athurugiriya plot of land and had prepared themselves for the attack while the cab brought by Athurugiriye Lada was utilised to restrict the journey of the prison buses during the attack. The envisaged positions targeted were mapped out by Angoda Lokka and the plan finalised 2 days before the incident on Saturday (25) where the assailants were accompanied in the Dolphin van and explaining everything about how the assignment was to be launched while a rehearsal was carried out about the location, it was revealed. It was further exposed that that very night the van concerned was kept waiting at the selected spot for the attack and the group had proceeded by foot upto the front gate of Kalutara Prison in order to ascertain the distance from the prison to the location of the crime at hand, which incidentally was just 200 metres away.

In addition, bunches of some king coconuts had been placed inside the cab brought by Lada to give the impression that they were involved in selling king coconuts. Angoda Lokka has issued instructions to members of the group to assemble once again at rubberwattha the next day (26)  night to adorn themselves with uniforms in the van and to share the weapons inside the black-coloured bag. Angoda Lokka has dressed up in a police inspector's uniform while the other 9 had clothed themselves with uniforms similar to those worn by intelligence Officers. After all of them queued up with weapons in their possession it was displayed across a video call to Makandure Madush the day when the attack was to be launched; the gang arriving at the stipulated spot early morning at one thirty.

After 3 gunmen with T - 56 weapons in their possession were stationed at the hilly area with instructions to shoot at the bus. Angoda Lokka, Bunty and 4 others had proceeded under orders to get into the bus and to open fire only after Angoda Lokka was to receive a telephone call that the bus carrying Samayan was on its way. At that point the Tamil guard inside the bus who aimed gunshots in the direction of 4 members of the gang including Angoda Lokka and at which moment the shot had struck Angoda Lokka's boot and bounced off when the assailants who fired in return it ended with the 2 prison officers sacrificing their life  as a result. By this time Angoda Lokka, Bunty and 2 others had got into the bus searching for Samayan and his clique with three T - 56 guns and 1 pistol in their hands and had aimed a barrage of shots at this gang including Samayan who already faced gunshots and was injured crawling out. Ultimately the gang was found fleeing in their van in within just a space of few minutes. During the process of their getaway, the suspect revealed that each of the gang members was dropped at various points and all of them were compensated each with a cash sum of Rs. 30,000 which funds had been sent by Madusha.

Bunty said that he was dropped in Panadura and later had come home to Battaramulla and according to a telephone call of Madusha he had come to Matara. After collecting the money of Rs. 1 lakh he had gone to Nuwara Eliya. The suspect Bunty thus revealed the ending to the story. The van involved in the attack was left abandoned in Moragahahena area and after the attack, Lokka and gang had fled in a boat from India to Thel Bala's border and from there onwards had proceeded to another country across international seas, it was revealed.

Rohan Pradeep alias Army Roshan who is a
member of underworld kingpin Angoda Lokka who is in the spotlight these days over the murder of Samayan has quipped that his murder is a very satisfactory course of action, mentioned during the course of the said radio programme and he even confirmed that it was the work of Angoda Lokka and his gang. Panagoda miracle which makes those who come in wheel-chairs walk instantly ... the truth? (video)

Panagoda miracle which makes those who come in wheel-chairs walk instantly ... the truth? (video)

An incident where the sick is cured at a temple in Panagoda which is being publicised has been released as a video footage over the internet these days. The person who attends to hundreds of disabled people assembled at the temple approaches the disabled and touches them from head to toes for a few seconds and instantly those who were unable to walk then get up on their feet and
apparently are seen to walk ... cured of their ailment.

We who cared to delve into this scenario made our way there under the courtesy of the Panagoda Army Camp and were able to observe, as reported, of how this person who visits the camp temple locality and carries out his miraculous task without charging any money whatsoever from the patients who come there and even goes to the extent of providing tea and other refreshments at his own expense to those who come from afar.

It was reported that this miracle man is a Sri Lankan and is someone who lives in Australia and that he would visit the said temple only every Saturday for this purpose. Though the miracle is performed at the temple grounds without any religious discrimination, this service is named as 'Divine service of curing the sick' and since the activity is conducted with a blend of Catholic characteristics it nevertheless has led to certain criticisms over the internet.

We were able to get at newspaper announcements about this phenomenon and we found that what is mentioned there is a request from those participating to come prepared at 5 in the evening, attired in white, bringing along offerings of flowers ready to perform Bohi Pooja and that this task which is so performed brings merit to the gods as well as to us ... also that this service is free of religious discrimination and monetary commitments too. It is also mentioned there that in the same way there is also no yanthra manthra, medicinal or treatment for fractures involved and free of advisory services.

During the past there were hundreds of quacks who indulged in performing bogus miracles similar to miracles of this nature and thus duped the public of their money and most people have tended to look at this process in a squint-eyed way. Whatever it is, if at all those who are unable to walk are given the ability to walk ... it then is by itself a great act of merit. This video which is worthy of one's attention, from below
