The pre-planned act of cheating carried out by the teacher called Jinendra Ranasinghe living in Kandana area of having in advance been distributing publicity handbills in advance of an Advanced Level question paper some days back has been revealed by the police by now.
Questions were included in the said handbill thus misleading the students and were handed over to them at the very moment the examination was in
progress, according to a planned strategy. The brother of the tuition sir who was a school teacher serving at theAadvanced Level examinations hall on the 19th had in fact helped directly in this connection. Before the Chemistry question paper was issued by the person in charge of the hall, after breaking open the seals and when asked to count them, the brother who says that when one question paper was kept on the table, he had taken some photographs of some pages in it from the tab computer which he had brought with him. Subsequently, a few minutes after issuing the question papers to the students he had despatched the photos he secured before and had sent by Viber to a graphic artiste working at a computer graphic establishment in Gampaha. During the time this editing process was in operation the private class tuition sir too had been present at that place and had been sharp enough to select just 3 questions from it. In the same way the illustrations were copied and without altering the values of the contents and making changes only in the features, he had been cautious so as to design the handbill. The exam question paper was not once again typeset and its copy was attached to it.
This teacher who completed his task of graphic work within the space of a few minutes in this manner, the other side of the leaflet on which side was found parts of the graphic creation was copied with the aid of a Duplex machine. Subsequently the tuition sir's stock of leaflets were handed over to two of his helpers and was instructed to distribute those no sooner the exam was over. The handbill which confused the school-children had been gone into preparation in this way.
The tuition sir connected to this incident is still missing. His father and his brother who made use of Viber for the question paper incident is presently in police custody. According to their statement, the graphic artiste who works at a computer centre in the town of Gampaha in Kelaniya area too has been taken into custody yesterday. All 3 of them are expected to be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department today (22).
