President Maithripala Sirisena pays visit to deceased Vidya's home in Jaffna
President Maithripala Sirisena made a visit to the home of Vidya who was raped and murdered causing a great sensation in the whole country.
This visit was the result of an invitation extended by Vidya's mother and others and the visit was made when the President attended an event in
Jaffna. Minister Gayantha, Governor Reginald and Inspector General of Police were present on that occasion. After inquiring about the family, the President pledged that he would render all support for education matters of Vidya's elder sister and other requirements of the house as well. After the court verdict, those responsible for Vidya's death are by now facing death penalty. Vidya's mother on this occasion expressed her gratefulness to the President shown by him to mete out justice.
