The ruthless tiger terrorists displayed the ferocity of their brutality to the entire world for 30 years causing massive destruction in the country.
The ruthlessness of the terrorists who quench their thirst for blood cannot be a secret in the past as well as at present. Even though some attempt to wipe out this cruelty, its nature is embedded in the episodes of this dark era.
The tiger terrorists, killing a war hero in the Omanthai area with a small weapon on 25th November 1988, commenced their ruthless killings on this day throughout the dark period. On 25th November 1995, the terrorists made an untiring effort to unleash a massive attack targeting the Palaly Security Zone. The attack was successfully repulsed by the brave soldiers risking their lives. However, eight of the soldiers made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the country.
A terrorist attack was launched targeting a Bell 12 aircraft in the Puliyankulam area. Four members of the Sri Lanka Air force sacrificed their lives in this assault. Another terrorist attack was launched on 25th November 2001 targeting a group of soldiers on foot patrol in the Selvanagar area in Trincomalee. As a result, the country lost the valuable services of two brave soldiers.
Two soldiers were killed in a claymore mine explosion which targeted the war heroes on 25th November 2008. At the time terrorism was eradicated from the country on 18th May 2009, the terrorists had taken away the lives of three innocent civilians and 24 brave soldiers on 25th November throughout the fear psychosis period.
The war heroes who advanced during the operations against the terrorists under the bold leadership of the Commander in Chief President Rajapaksa and enthroning freedom in the country, setting a good example to the world on how terrorism should be annihilated.
It was a humanitarian operation which went beyond a war. This massive operation was launched not to kill but to liberate the lives of innocent civilians injecting new life to the North as well as South.
Some could not bear this triumph. The British Prime Minister is seeking inquiry reports from Sri Lanka. But he took 40 years to submit a report on the killing of 13 innocent civilians in his country in 1972. Four years had passed since the ending of the conflict in Sri Lanka and isn’t it ludicrous for David Cameron to seek a report on the conflict from Sri Lanka. Reports should be sought not from the country but from the tiger terrorists who brutally assaulted innocent civilians.
