The entire world saw the brutality of LTTE terrorism during the last three decades.
Although certain attempts are being made to whitewash their brutalities, their acts are known to the entire world.
On 23rd November 1985, six soldiers were killed when they were caught up in a land mine explosion triggered by the LTTE in Vakarai. On 23rd November 1990 two soldiers lost their lives in an LTTE ambush in Batticaloa. On 23rd November 1995 eight soldiers lost their lives in Palali in a brutal LTTE attack. Three soldiers lost their lives in an attack launched in Atambagaskada. Roused by their imminent defeat, the LTTE launched severe attacks on three locations on 23rd November 2008 violating the laws of war. The attack caused the deaths of 29 soldiers. On the same day 9 soldiers were killed in Andankulam by the LTTE. A total of 80 lives including those of 5 civilians and 77 war heroes were lost on this day. If terrorism was not eliminated at the Nandikadal lagoon on 18th May 2009, the country would have been riddled with violence. The brave soldiers who marched forward under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa defeated terrorism and ushered in freedom to the entire country, teaching a lesson to the world. It was a humanitarian operation above a common war to liberate innocent people. The north as well as the south experience resurgence following the operation although the situation is not to the desire of certain sectors. British Premier David Cameron as called for an investigation although his country took 40 years to produce a report on the killing of 13 innocent citizens in 1972. It is ironic that British Premier Cameron asks for an investigation report from Sri Lanka, just 4 years after the war, when all citizens are enjoying the fruits of freedom in this country. The investigation report should be called from the tiger terrorists who brutally killed innocent people. The brutal acts committed by the tiger terrorists are clearly recorded in our dark memories.
