The service rendered by the First Lady for the welfare of cancer patients has been appreciated.
First Lady Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa who voluntarily offered assistance for cancer patients in the country donated cancer detection devices, drugs and other equipment to the cancer hospital in Maharagama this morning. It was organized by the Ministry of Highways, Ports and Shipping and the Maga Neguma Project. Accepting the donation, specialist doctor at the cancer hospital in Maharagama, Dr. Kanishka Gunawardena stated that the service rendered by the First Lady is an example to the entire society. The First Lady also inquired about the difficulties faced by the young patients and also agreed to extend assistance to those who face financial difficulties. Secretary to the Ministry of Highways, Ports and Shipping Ranjith Premasiri, Chairman of the Maga Neguma Project Kingsley Ranawake and Specialist doctor at the cancer hospital Dr. Jayantha Balawardena were amongst those who participated in the occasion
