President who took over Commonwealth Chair pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relics

President Rajapakse who has been honoured with the Chairmanship of the Commonwealth pays obeisance at the historic Dalada Maligawa and secured blessings of the Sacred Tooth Relics.


The President visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa this morning and paid obeisance to the Sacred Tooth Relics. Thereafter he visited the Malwatte Vihare and called on the Malwatte Mahanayake the Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera and inquired into his well being. He chanted Pirith and blessed the President for his birthday and the anniversary of his assumption of office.

Visiting the Asgiriya Vihare, the President called on the Asgiriya Mahanayake, the Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera and secured his blessings.

President Rajapaksa thereafter called on the Anunayake of the Malwatte Chapter the Ven. Dimbulkumbure Sri Saranankara Wimaladhamma Thera and member of the Malwatte Karaka Sangha Sabha the Ven. Dehideniye Ratanasara Thera and inquired into their well being.

The presentation of a memento to the President for being appointed as the Chairman of the Commonwealth took place under the auspices of Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake.
