Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe has stated that the government is prepared to face the allegations made on human rights.
He said that the government will take action to provide proof anywhere in the world, about how human rights are protected in the country.
He expressed this view at a media briefing held today simultaneous to the CHOGM.
Minister Mahinda Samarasingh stated that Sri Lanka is an independent nation. The country is guided by the constitution and the laws of the land. He said that the country should not be dictated by any one as far as the time tables are concerned as there is a domestic process to address the challenges in a post conflict scenario. He said that the country is committed towards a comprehensive reconciliation. The government understands the people better than anyone else and the country takes pride in its diverse culture.(END)
