Incentives for the cultivators of minor export crops

One point one million cultivators of minor export crops are benefited by the Divi Neguma programme.


The Divi Neguma national programme is playing a major role in improving the agro-economy of the country. Measures have been taken to provide a better price for the cultivators and relief to the consumers. More than one million plants of minor export crops were distributed under the 100,000 model home garden project under the patronage of Ministers Basil Rajapaksa and Reginald Cooray on 21st November. Plants are currently being distributed in the 5th stage of the 100,000 model home garden project. Sixty three thousand four hundred rupees is being granted for the cultivation of cinnamon in one acre including incentives and raw material while 48,880 rupees is being provided for the cultivation of pepper. 28,400 rupees is being granted for the cultivation of cocoa cultivation and 14,000 rupees is granted for the cultivation of nutmeg. Measures have been taken to provide the technological know-how and official assistance free of charge.
