Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunge has said that fifty percent of the recommendations made by the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission have been implemented.
He stated this while addressing the media briefing held at the BMICH before a large number of local and foreign journalists.
He said that measures have been taken to implement the remaining 50 percent of the recommendations. The most difficult period is over and the goal would be reached in the future without much difficulty. He noted that the LLRC report is a public document which is accessible to anyone. He said that a committee, chaired by himself has been appointed to look into the implementation of the recommendations. Every 6 months, the committee reports to all parties concerned about its action.
