First Ladies of Commonwealth countries have emphasized that they are fortunate to come to Sri Lanka to further enhance the unity prevailing among Commonwealth States. They laid this emphasis to the Sri Lankan First Lady.
First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa hosted a special lunch in honour of the First Ladies of Commonwealth nations who are visiting the island. The event was organized at the President’s House. Children of the Carlton Pre-School welcomed the First Ladies according to traditions of the respective nations.
They pointed out the current Commonwealth Summit would lay the foundation to further firm up the mutual bonds among the states and successfully confront the present challenges. The First Ladies posed for a group photograph on a special dais put up at the President’s House.
A notable feature was the organization of the lunch which was prepared according to Sri Lankan traditions with the special attention of the Sri Lankan First Lady. The visiting First Ladies expressed their gratitude to the Sri Lankan First Lady for hosting them to such a delicious lunch.
Wives of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth countries and High Commissioners of these nations in Sri Lanka also joined in this event. The First Ladies were very happy due to the opportunity accorded to them to serve two elephants with fruits. First Lady Rajapaksa presented mementoes to the visitors.
