The Court has ordered the Police to continue investigations into the fire that gutted shops in Bodhiraja Mawatha in Pettah.
One hundred and four shops were totally destroyed in the fire that erupted in Bodhiraja Mawatha recently. The Colombo Magistrate ordered the Pettah Police to continue investigations. Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya issued the order when the case came up for trial. In a report Police stated that the reason for the fire has so far not been ascertained. The report said that the Government analyst is carrying out further investigations using the material found at the scene. The Magistrate directed that the progress of the investigation be presented without delay.
