Strict disciplinary action is to be instituted against Sri Lanka Freedom party members who worked for the defeat of the 2014 budget of Local Authorities. Measures will also be taken to expel such members from their present positions.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has decided to initiate stern disciplinary action against the party members linked to the United People’s Freedom Alliance, who exercised their vote to defeat the 2014 budgets of the Local Councils ruled by the Freedom Alliance.
In a statement, Sri Lanka Freedom Party General Secretary and Minister Maithripala Sirisena said that such members will be asked to show cause with immediate effect. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party has already decided to expel such members from their present positions. Also they will not be appointed to any posts in the Local Authorities.
The statement further said that those who had voted in favour of adopting the budget will be considered when appointing new Chairmen.
