A network of surveillance cameras has been installed in trains.
Minster Kumara Welgama inaugurated the CCTV camera network covering Maradana and Fort railway stations to provide protection to the commuters and to monitor the train operations. It was installed at the expenditure of 37 million rupees. The technological support was extended by the Moratuwa University. The network consisting of 84 cameras contributes to the smooth operation of the railway department. The Minister stated that the security cameras will be introduced to the SLTB in the future. General Manager of the Railway Department B.A.P. Ekanayake and high ranking officials of Sri Lanka Railways participated in the occasion.
