The President of the Public Service United Nurses Association Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera has stressed that no one will be allowed to denigrate the victories achieved in the health sector with the commitment of all sectors concerned.
He said that all should appreciate the programme launched by the government to create a healthy society.
Speaking at a media briefing held in Narahenpita Ven. Muruttettuwe Ananda Thera stated this referring to newspaper article carrying false information with regard to maternal and infant mortality rates in the country.
The prelate stated that a recent newspaper report said that the duties of the midwives have been assigned to the nurses and the rate of maternal and infant mortality rate has increased. He said that they denounce the report as it would create a wrong image in the minds of the people and it is their responsibility to keep the public informed.
