Bangladesh, sent in to bat by Sri Lanka, were bowled out for 232 on the opening day of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with 61 and Shakib Al Hasan made 55. Shaminda Eranga claimed four wickets and new-ball partner Suranga Lakmal took three.
Bangladesh lost three wickets in successive overs to slide from 35-0 to 40-3 as Eranga removed Tamim Iqbal and Rahman, and captain Angelo Mathews trapped Marshall Ayub leg-before. Suranga Lakmal dismissed Mominul Haque before Shakib and Rahim batted out till lunch.
Sri Lanka, replying to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 232, were 60-0 at stumps. Dimuth Karunaratne was unbeaten on 28 and Kaushal Silva was on 30.
