Big hitting all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been ruled out of the West Indies squad for the ICC World Twenty20. Pollard continues to recover from a knee injury and has not been included in the 15-man squad which will be led by all-rounder Darren Sammy, released for the event in Bangladesh from the 16th of next month to April 6th.
All players named for the Twenty20s against Ireland, were included in the World T20 squad along with batsman Johnson Charles and pacer Sheldon Cottrell. The 24-year-old Cottrell has played one Test against India in Kolkata last year but is yet to make his debut in either of the shorter formats.
West Indies are the reigning World T20 champions after beating hosts Sri Lanka in the final in Colombo in October 2012.
