The Kuliyapitiya City is dressed up to hold the Eighth Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition under the theme “Awakening of the Sri Lankan Nation.” The launch will take place under the patronage of the President tomorrow.
The Deyata Kirula was first launched in the year 2007, reminding the glory of the motherland to the entire nation including the school children. It was staged at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. Hundreds of thousands of people visited the Exhibition.
The Deyata Kirula Exhibition was also organized the following year, that is in 2008. This Exhibition was also conducted at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
The 2009 Deyata Kirula National Exhibition was also conducted at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
It was in the year 2010 that a decision was taken to stage the Exhibition outside Colombo, with the aim of providing an opportunity to the people in the outstations of visiting the Exhibition. Accordingly on an idea mooted by the President the first Deyata Kirula Exhibition outside Colombo was held in Kandy. A notable feature was the development that was mooted in the area parallel to the Exhibition.
The 2011 Deyata Kirula Exhibition was organized in Moneragala endowing to the people of the area many mega development projects.
In parallel to the country’s Independence Day, the 2012 Deyata Kirula National Development took place centering the Oyamadu area in Anuradhapura.
Ampara was the venue where the seventh Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition was held in the year 2013. As a result many mega development projects were launched in the area.
It is the Eighth Deyata Kirula that is being organized this year. The opening will take place under the patronage of President Rajapaksa at 5.00 p.m. tomorrow.
Exhibition Stall have been put up covering an area of 162 acres centering the Wayamba University, the Technical College and the Kuliyapitiya Central College. Arrangements are in place to declared open many projects completed under the Deyata Kirula Development Programme parallel to the Exhibition which will run for seven days.
Ministers Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Northwestern Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera visited the Exhibition grounds to make inquiries into the progress. Thereafter giving views to the media, Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that maximum facilities are being provided to the people who will be visiting the Exhibition.
Minister Siyambalapitiya said they had drawn their attention to providing the maximum infrastructure and the transport facilities following the experience gained from seven exhibitions. The Sri Lanka Insurance Trust is providing an insurance policy to every visitor and participant. The Minister added that a significant security network will also be in place causing minimum hindrance to the public.
Special buses are operating from today for the convenience of the public who will be visiting the Exhibition. The National Transport Commission is organizing these special services for the convenience of the people who will be travelling to Kuliyapitiya from all parts of the country. These transport services are operative from the main bus stands of all Provinces. The special bus services will constantly operate until the 28th of this month. The buses providing the special services will have stickers to indicate that they are running to Kuliyapitiya for the Deyata Kirula Exhibition. Also the National Transport Commission is providing free temporary commuter services permits for the buses engaged in these services. These permits have been despatched to the Provincial Transport Authorities. Also a programme is in place to provide buses at concessionary rates for visitors to the Deyata Kirula Exhibition.
