The citizens of this country have bitter memories of tiger atrocities.
The tiger terrorists who did not consider the value of human lives took away innocent lives and unleashed massive destruction to public property shocking the entire country.
Another episode of the cruel activities of these terrorists are mentioned in this feature.
On March 04th the tiger terrorists who took away the life of a war hero in the Karuppankeni area embarked on their killing spree aiming at more brutal attacks to fulfil their demented aspirations. On 04th March 1997, the tiger terrorists lurking in the Padaviya area unleashed an assault on a group of war heroes who were on foot patrol and killed five of them. On 04th March in the year 1999, two war heroes had to sacrifice their lives on behalf of the country in a terrorist attack in the Nedunkerni area.
On 04th March in the year 2000, the terrorists mooted another attack on a group of gallant soldiers providing security to civilians in the Thiriyaya area. The country lost the valuable lives of two brave soldiers in this assault. Chunnakan in Jaffna was the next target of the terrorists on 04th March. It was in the year 2007, that the terrorists unleashed another attack. Three war heroes caught up in this attack lost their lives.
Five more valiant soldiers were killed in a tiger terrorist assault in the Kaththankulam area on 4th March 2008. Five war heroes lost their lives. A series of attacks was mooted by the terrorists on 04th March in the year 2009 in the Puthukudiyiruppu, Mullaitivu and Vishwamadu areas. 11 brave soldiers made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the unity of the country in these assaults.
Terrorism which was plaguing the country in this manner was pulverized on 18th May 2009 from the Nanthikadal Lagoon. By then the terrorists had taken away 36 lives. It includes three civilians while the other 33 were members of the Security Forces. The troops advanced without any fear in the battlefront during the humanitarian operation due to the bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa without being deterred in the face of the challenges made by certain local as well as foreign forces and under the prudent guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The war heroes liberated the country from the ruthless terrorists due to the supreme dedications made by them. If not the motherland would have scourged by terrorism which was fast spreading like a pestilence.
The members of the forces liberated more than 300 thousand civilians who were languishing under the jackboot of the terrorists, without causing any harm to them. These innocent Tamil civilians were also offered with food and drink, thus providing a fitting lesson to the entire world on the protection of human rights.
The United States and Britain are making false allegations against these soldiers on the violation of human rights not because they were really hurt but because of their jealousy on the progress achieved by the country in the field of protecting human rights.
The patriotic fraternity in the country would not permit any of the so called forces to cause any damage or hindrance, in whatever manner they were operative. The patriotic citizens have proved this to the world displaying that they are even prepared to sacrifice their lives. Isn’t it the war heroes who enthroned real freedom on the 18th of May 2009 by subduing the terrorist forces as well as the local as well as foreign forces disloyal to the country? Also isn’t it an obligation of those who survived the era to remember such war heroes?
