The citizens of this country have bitter memories of tiger atrocities.
The tiger terrorists who did not consider the value of human lives took away innocent lives and unleashed massive destruction to public property shocking the entire country.
Another episode of the cruel activities of these terrorists are mentioned in this feature.
The terrorists have unleashed several attacks during the conflict period on the 05th of March. These ruthless tiger terrorists exploding a landmine in the Kantale area on March 05th 1988 bumped off eight Sinhala civilians and 15 Muslim civilians, thus embarking on their killing spree during the fear psychosis period. The brutal terrorists launched another massive attack targeting the war heroes in the Vettilaikerni area in the year 1992 also on a day like today. As a result 19 war heroes sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country.
Pooneryn was the next target of the terrorists on 05th March in the year 1994. Three war heroes gave up their lives on behalf of the country in this assault. These cruel terrorists did not limit their attacks only to the North and East.
The ruthless terrorist clan of Velupillai Prabhakaran who had no value or did not respect human lives, did not limit their attacks only to the North. They unleashed terror in the South too, with the intention of quenching their thirst for blood.05th March 1998 was another bleak and dark day for the motherland. It was a busy day at Maradana in Colombo and highly congested. A massive explosion happened just opposite the Maradana Police Station. The merciless terrorists exploded a bomb in the vicinity. The terrorist managed to silence 36 innocent civilians. The ruthless attack of the terrorists also succeeded in taking away the lives of Sulochana Sammani and Iresha, two students of the Gothami Balika Vidyalaya in Maradana. How can the parents of these two children forget their loved one although 16 years had passed since this tragic incident. Why can’t the world see this blatant violation of human rights committed by these ruthless terrorists. Without halting there activities with this bomb explosion, the terrorists also on the same day killed two war heroes in the Maradana area by opening fire at them.
Again in the year 2000 also on a day like today, the tiger terrorists mooted an attack on the Security post at Omanthai and took away the valuable lives of two war heroes. Again on March 05th in 2005, these ruthless terrorists killed six innocent Sinhala and Muslim civilians following assaults launched on villages in the North. The terrorists opened fire in the Manthottam area on 05th March 2008 taking away the lives of two war heroes.
In the year 2009 on March 05th these tiger terrorist mooted a shell attack in the Chalai area killing two more war heroes. On the same day they unleashed an attack in the Puthukudiyiruppu area. As a result five war heroes sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country. On 05th March 2009, the terrorists exploded a land mine in the Puthukudiyiruppu area and killed two war heroes while on the same day they killed three more war heroes in a mortar attack. It was also on the same day that the tiger terrorists unleashed a powerful attack in the Thamarkulam area killing seven war heroes. The terrorists who were demented by the defeats they suffered unleashed another massive attack in the Puthumathalan area on 05th March 2009, killing nine war heroes.
If the terrorists were not subdued on 18th May 2009 from the Nanthikadal Lagoon, the country would have transformed into a lake of blood. The members of the Security Forces who advanced in the humanitarian operations under the prudent leadership of President Rajapaksa, the Commander in Chief and under the proper guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa enthroned permanent peace in the country. If not the country would come under the authority of the terrorists.
Certain local as well as extraneous forces against the country are operating against the peoples’ leader, the war heroes who have provided an opportunity for the citizens to breathe a sigh of relief while safeguarding human rights, totally forgetting the ruthlessness of the tiger terrorists. But can anyone forget the brutality of these terrorists? If not for the initiatives taken by the peoples’ leader and the war heroes, the country would have been dominated by the western nations and the terrorists. Also can anyone forget the service discharged by the gallant soldiers who had paved the way for the citizens to live in freedom?
