The hearing of the petition submitted to the Supreme Court calling for the proscription of the Manifesto presented by the Tamil National Alliance during the Northern Provincial Council poll will be taken up on the 05th of May.
The Supreme Court decided to take up on the 05th of May the petition submitted by five organizations including the Patriotic National Movement calling for the prohibition of the Manifesto presented by the Tamil National Alliance in respect of the recent polls for the Northern Provincial Council.
The petition stated that the manifesto submitted by the Tamil National Alliance encouraged the nurture of separatist feelings and was in total violation of the Constitution. As such the petition calls on the Court to issue an order proscribing the manifesto. Taking into considerations the submissions the Supreme court decided to take up the petition for hearing on the 05th of May.
