The barbaric terrorists took away many lives to quench their thirst for blood. The nation will never forget the massive destruction unleashed by them in the country.
That era in which inhumanity and brutalism reigned was drawn to an end with the war heroes annihilating terrorism under the prudent leadership of the Commander in Chief. We bring to you incidents which took place on 08th March in this episode.
On 08th March 1994, the terrorists took away the life of a war hero in the Welikanda area and thus commenced their killing spree during the dark period with the aspiration of taking away thousands of lives. On 08th March 1998, the terrorists unleashed an attack on the Police Post in the Pachchanur area and killed four Police Officers.
In the year 2000 also on a day like today, the terrorists mooted an attack on the Aiyyakachchi area and deprived the motherland the valuable lives of three war heroes. On 08th March 2008, the tiger terrorists unleashed an artillery attack on the war heroes in Jaffna. As a result three war heroes lost their lives. Again on March 08th the ruthless terrorists mooted several attacks in the Ambalawanpokkanai, Puthukudiyiruppu and Palamottai area. This results in the deaths of 36 gallant soldiers.
When the last shot on the insurgency was fired at the Nanthikadal Lagoon on 18th May 2009, the terrorists had taken away 59 lives on 08 March throughout the dark era. This included three innocent civilians. The other 56 were members of the Security Forces.
The members of the Security Forces who advanced in the humanitarian operations due to the prudent leadership of the President Rajapaksa who is also the Commander in Chief and the proper guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, succeeded in liberating the country from terrorism which plagued the country for 30 years and thereby enthroning peace. The war heroes succeeded in liberating the motherland from the cruel terrorists, with firm dedications and making supreme sacrifices. If not the war would have still prevailed and the people would have been living under fear.
The operation mooted by the war heroes to uproot terrorism was purely humanitarian and succeeded in liberating more than 300 thousand innocent Tamil civilians who were languishing under the jackboot of the terrorists. In this process the war heroes offered the food and drink they had to these civilians provided a fitting example to the entire world. However, countries such as Britain and the United States which flagrantly violate human rights had been severely hurt by this lesson. As such they are making baseless and unfounded allegations of human rights violations against Sri Lanka, with the intention of covering up their human rights breaches.
Whatever accusations are being made by local as well as foreign conspiratorial forces, the people are ready to face any consequences with the State Leader. As such these so-called forces should understand that they will not succeed in their attempts to cause any harm to the State Leader or the valiant soldiers.
