Special Project Minister S.M. Chandrasena has said that the programme of granting pensions to farmers will not be paralyzed for whatever reason.
The farmer’s pension programme is at present being successfully implemented covering the entire island. The Special Project Minister said that the granting of pensions to farmers will progress without being paralyzed for any reason. The Minister was addressing a function organized to award pensions to 7000 farmers within the Anuradhapura District. He pointed out that farmers who had joined the pension scheme that were unable to pay their instalments, will be given an opportunity to contribute to the scheme after repaying their due instalments.
Minister Chandrasena revealed that the Government has made an allocation of 1350 million rupees on behalf of the payment of pensions to farmers. Among those who joined in the occasion was North Central Chief Minister S.M. Ranjith.
